The Story of Zhu Yin

The design of the Life Code Medallion is inspired by the ancient Chinese philosophy of “round heaven and square earth” (天圆地方), as seen in traditional Chinese coins.

With a circular outer rim and a square center, the form echoes the classical copper coin and symbolizes the harmonious balance between heaven and earth—a worldview where all things coexist and flourish in unity.
Between the circle and square, two mirrored fish are entwined head to tail. Their mouths meet to form a radiant sun, while their overlapping tails shape a crescent moon—an artistic representation of “sun and moon in harmony, yin and yang in mutual birth.” This reflects the Eastern philosophy that all dualities in human nature—light and shadow, strength and vulnerability—are interconnected and interdependent.
The fish motif is chosen not only for its graceful curves and fluid lines, but also because in Chinese, the word for fish (鱼 yú) is a homophone for “abundance” (余 yú). It expresses wishes for prosperity, good fortune, and a fulfilling life.
Furthermore, the design pays homage to the legendary “Twin Fish Jade Pendants” (双鱼玉佩) in Chinese folklore—mystical tokens believed to replicate life and connect parallel realms. By incorporating this mirrored form, the piece encourages the wearer to reflect on both sides of their character, to embrace their full self, and to reconnect with their inner energy.
It carries a quiet but powerful message: you are your own most eternal and authentic companion.
